Eric Fitzakerly – Operations Director

Eric is the founder and operations director. He has over 30 years of experience in the metal fabrication industry. He completed his apprenticeship with CWR Fabrications and worked with them for many years. He established the company in 2000 and has worked hard to make it one of the leading providers of sheet metalwork and steel fabrications.

Eric has a keen eye for detail and a passion for quality. He remains very hands-on in his work and enjoys working with his team to achieve objectives. His management style involves leading by example and he is very fair and supportive.

Helen Fitzakerly – Administrative Director

Helen is one of the directors of the company with specific responsibility for administration. She has over 20 years of experience in the metal fabrication industry and over 15 years of experience in business management.

Educated to degree level, Helen enjoyed a successful career with Sunderland City Council before joining the company. Helen worked in Consumer Advice, Trading Standards & Environmental Health and has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Company.

Gemma Day – Office Administrator

Gemma joined our team in April 2013. She has over 20 years of experience working in the construction industry. 
Gemma is a highly-skilled, professional administrator. She has a wealth of experience in liaising with customers and has excellent communication skills. She works closely with both directors and is the main point of contact for customers and suppliers.

Gemma takes a leading role in the administration of the current Mears Group Contracts and assists in the production of data and reports as well as maintaining workflow spreadsheets. She is also heavily involved with the administrative side of the quality management system and health and safety policy and associated procedures.

John Gardiner - Senior Metal Worker / Estimator

John joined the team at Fitz Fabrications in 2011. He brings to the Company over 40 years’ experience in the industry. He is a time served sheet metal worker with a keen eye for detail.

John is a key part of the team and has been instrumental in the Company’s recent growth. John can be relied upon to provide a cost-effective solution to a problem and he is committed to producing high quality metalwork.
John has built up an excellent working relationship with our clients and his enthusiasm and passion for providing a customer focused experience has proved invaluable to the business.

John has significant expertise in stainless steel fabrication and projects requiring a greater degree of technical input.
He is also responsible for:
•    The production of CAD / fabrication drawings
•    Site meetings and surveys
•    Costing / pricing of works
